Digital Wedding Invitation Wording: 14 Examples You Can Copy

Key Takeaway

Wording for digital wedding invitations: formal, casual, parents or couple hosting, second marriages, destination, adults-only, plus the email and text to send.

Use the example as a starting point

The names, venues and events below are fictional wording examples. Adjust the host line, invitation scope and dates to match your actual celebration. For traditional formal wording, consult Emily Post's guide.

Try a rendered wedding wording example to preview the words in a template and start an invitation. This article also covers the email or text that carries the link.

The structure every example follows

  1. Host line. Who is inviting.
  2. Request line. "request the honour of your presence" (ceremony in a place of worship), "request the pleasure of your company" (formal, secular), "invite you to celebrate" (relaxed).
  3. Names. Traditionally the bride first, but order however you like.
  4. Date and time. Spelled out for formal, numerals for casual.
  5. Venue and city.
  6. Reception line.
  7. RSVP line. On a digital invitation this is the deadline plus the button.

9. Destination wedding

Amara and Jonah invite you to Sardinia
for their wedding weekend, 19 to 21 June 2026
Ceremony Saturday at 5 p.m., Hotel Su Gologone
Travel notes and room block below. Please RSVP by 1 March.

10. Adults-only

"We respectfully request no children at the ceremony and reception." Or, softer: "We have reserved seats in your name for [names]." Name the invitees and set the permitted additional guests accordingly. Bloomvite does not verify ages.

11. Ceremony and reception at different times or places

Put the ceremony in the invitation block. Add a line "Reception at seven o'clock, The Orangery" and a schedule section below. If some guests are invited to the reception only, send them their own invitation that says so, rather than asking them about a ceremony they are not attending.

12. Dress code

Black tie · Cocktail attire · Garden party (flat shoes advised) · Festive · Come as you are.

Because a digital invitation arrives inside an email or a text, that message is part of the wording. Keep it personal and short.

On Bloomvite each guest's personal link is one tap to copy into a message, and the invitation already knows who they are when they open it. Read digital wedding invitation etiquette for why one household, one message, matters.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still write 'RSVP by' on a digital invitation?

Yes. Write the deadline in the invitation itself, even though the RSVP button is right there. Guests skim, and the deadline is the line they need.

Whose name goes first?

Tradition puts the bride first. Many couples now go alphabetical or by how it sounds. There is no wrong answer.

How do I word an invitation when parents are divorced?

List each host on their own line: 'Ms. Grace Okafor and Mr. Daniel Okafor request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter.' If one parent has remarried, add the spouse on that line.

Should the wording match the formality of the template?

Yes. A letterpress-style design with 'tacos and karaoke' reads as a joke; a kraft-paper design with 'request the honour of your presence' reads as stiff. Match the tone. See how to choose a wedding invitation design.

Can I put the registry in the invitation wording?

No. Registry information goes in a section below the invitation or on your website, never in the invitation block.
